Shaane Syed

"An author ought to write for the youth of his own generation, the critics of the next, and the schoolmaster of ever afterwards."

- F. Scott Fitzgerald

Shaane Syed is a second year student at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  Born and raised in northern California, Shaane knows there is no better place to live than the Golden State (hence her choice to remain in-state for college). Currently she is pursuing a major in Business Economics and minors in both English and Professional Writing.  The balance of subjects, she imagines, will leave numerous opportunities open to her when it comes time to graduate and to choose a career.

Though she enjoys the wide world of literature, Shaane loves films and everything about them, and could not imagine a more exciting occupation than screenwriting.  Among her favorite films are Ordinary People, The Sting, and Harvey, and she believes they are some of the most highly underrated films.  Shaane also enjoys poorly-written horror films (such as Pumpkinhead and its sequels...) for the sake of a good laugh.

Because she has a few more years at UCSB, Shaane looks forward to exploring her educational options both in California and, hopefully, abroad.
