Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years ago

I remember my youth and the feeling that will never come back any more--the feeling that I could last for ever, outlast the sea, the earth, and all men; the deceitful feeling that lures us on to joys, to perils, to love, to vain effort--to death; the triumphant conviction of strength, the heat of life in the handful of dust, the glow in the heart that with every year grows dim, grows cold, grows small, and expires--and expires, too soon--before life itself.

- Joseph Conrad, Youth

Raymond Matthew Weyls (who goes by "Matt") is currently a student majoring in English at University of California, Santa Barbara. Matt transferred to UCSB from a junior college close to his home in San Diego. While attending this junior college, Matt intended to study Business/Economics before realizing he wasn't ready to spend four years learning material which he didn't find appealing. Seeing that his Introduction to Literature course was the only course he enjoyed, Matt decided to study English. When Matt isn't attending class or catching up on school work, he works as a server at Hollister Brewing Company. Furthermore, Matt devotes a large amount of his attention towards surfing and snowboarding, listening to music, as well as observing the art of Blaine Fontana, Dave Kinsey, Ben Tour, and Shepard Fairey. Matt's literary interests include the works of William Blake, Joseph Conrad, Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf (the list goes on), as well as the highly entertaining stories produced by the stylish Hunter S. Thompson and his distinct Gonzo journalism.
